Permissions

Text Permissions

If you wish to quote from the work of any of the authors represented by Jenny Darling & Associates you must apply for formal permission to do so and, usually pay a fee, once that permission is obtained. Our fees for permissions are based on those recommended by the Australian Society of Authors, but for some clients the rates are higher.

You will need to supply the following information about the source material: name of the author, name of the book from which quote is taken, name of the publisher of the book, a page reference, and the number of words you wish to use.

You will need to supply the following details of your planned work: the title, the publisher, anticipated publication date and price of the book, the size of the print run and the territory of publication. Please also indicate how the quote will be used, for example as an epigraph, in a classroom exercise and so on.

Electronic Permissions

The fees for electronic use of our authors’ copyright material are often higher than text based permission fees.

You will need to supply the following information about the source material: name of the author, name of the book from which quote is taken, name of the publisher of the book, a page references and the number of words you wish to use.

You will need to supply the following details of your planned work: the purpose and address of the website, whether the site operates for profit and the time frame during which you wish to display the copyright material.

Cartoon Permissions

If you wish to reproduce a cartoon by Judy Horacek you must apply for permission to do so and usually pay a fee once that permission is obtained. Please send a request in writing including the title of the cartoon and details of how you wish to use the cartoon including anticipated print run.

Amateur Stage Permissions

Please send a request in writing including the name of the author and the work, the number and dates of performances, the venue and the ticket price by email.

Reproduction of photographs

If you wish to use the photograph of any of the authors on this site you need to obtain permission and, in some instances, pay a fee for the use of the photograph. Please contact us for details.
